Are you experiencing chronic pain? Are you not as flexible as you once were? Can you no longer do the activities you once loved to do? As we go through life we experience stress, and this manifests in our bodies as muscle tension. The more stress, the more tension. Left unchecked this starts to affect how you feel and move and may even lead to pain, discomfort, and other health issues (migraines, high blood pressure, digestive issues, etc.). In Clinical Somatic Education you learn why this happens, how to recognize your own habits of managing stress and creating movement, and crucially – what you can do to take care of yourself.
This practice is foundational. It’s like pressing reset on your nervous system so that you can continue doing the things you love for as long as possible.
Private sessions are the fastest way to understand what your particular habits are, and what you specifically need to do in your practice. Once there’s muscle tension in our system we don’t feel it anymore so getting hands-on feedback is the most effective way to regain awareness and control.
During a session, we will discuss your story and we will both observe you in different postures. You will then be guided through a series of movements and together we can work out your movement patterns and habits. Sessions will take place on a table (similar to a massage table) and you remain fully clothed. I will provide hands-on feedback during the movements. To finish, you will practise some movements to take home for your daily practice. Please wear comfortable clothes that you can move freely in.
